+### Design choices
+- Token is a dataclass with `kind: str` and `value: Any`
+- NUMBER tokens: `int` when no dot in source, `float` when dot present
+- Operator/paren tokens carry the literal char as value
+- EOF carries `None`
+- LexError is a plain Exception subclass
+
