Currently, it would be a manual process to update the mariadb, nginx, and wordpress images that we're using in this repository.

We could use renovate bot, which we're using e.g. for our ansible infrastructure, to monitor for updates to the upstream images and automatically send pull requests, or even merge the version bumps directly.

I think this is done -- see autonomic-cooperative/wordpress-docker-composer#1.
